Offical Launch Creates New Horizons
Over 90 people attended LCBN’s Launch Party at The China Palace Restaurant on Thursday 24 June.
Billy Hui from Radio Merseyside’s Orient Express MC’d the evening with a short speech from Mr Alan Seatwo, Vice Chair of Liverpool Chinese Business Association about the history of LCBA and the identified need for the Network.
Counsellor Paul Brant, Deputy Leader, spoke on behalf of Liverpool City Council and talked about the strong relationships and bonds between the City and it’s Chinese Community and his hopes for the future of the network
Colin Ling, Network Manager then focussed on the motto ‘Let’s First Become Friends Then Do Business’ explaining that developing relationships is a major part of doing business in Chinese Culture.
Mr Tony Kwok a successful British Born Chinese Businessman then gave the Keynote speech amusing the audience with anecdotes from his early days of trade in the 1950’s and 1960’s and giving an insight into his own unique way of looking at business as a Sole Trader. He commended the new Network to businesses as he was never able to access such a resource when he began trading.
Presentations of specially commissioned pictures featuring the Chinese Arch against a background of the Liverpool Waterfront were then made to Mr Kwok and Levi Cheung of The China Palace Restaurant.
A buffet Dinner followed and many commented on the excellent and wide range of cuisine on offer.
Networking continued during and after dinner with the unanimous verdict that the event had been a great success.
